Clothes – There are many mistakes we make without even being aware. Becoming an expert in washing and drying is key to keeping our favorite clothes looking new
Our favorite clothes are part of our personal history. Remembering what we were wearing the day essential things happened to us in our lives is typical when fashion occupies a portion of your world.
For this reason, our garments deserve our attention and care so that they have a long useful life and accompany us in many more chapters. Here we leave a few tips to pamper them how they deserve it.

1. Use the washing machine wisely
The washing machine (or the way we use it) is the number 1 terror of our clothes. We make many mistakes in its use without being aware of the damage we exert on the tissues.
From not separating the garments by color, introducing delicate garments, applying excessive heat per system in daily washes, or selecting the wrong program.
Although the erratic star custom is the most widespread: washing the garments that we have only given one use.
Actually, once we take off a garment, we should not store it directly in the closet or throw it into the laundry basket but hang it in an airy place. Later, if the garment is not stained and you have only used it once since the last time you washed it, you should consider giving it some more use before passing it again.
Another aspect of washing with which to care for clothes and to save water is separating clothes according to colors.
This custom serves to avoid unpleasant surprises and protect lighter garments. But in addition to that, it is also ideal for separating by the program according to the care needs of each garment.
In addition, it is essential to remember that we should turn the jeans so that they fadeless, and the printed shirts so that they do not lose the drawing.
If we doubt a delicate piece, it is better to put it in the washing machine inside a unique bag for washing (or if we do not have a pillowcase) this way. We protect it from the erosion of other garments, buttons, or zippers.
2. To the hangers, what is from the hangers (knitwear never)
Another mistake in which we are repeat offenders is not knowing how to identify which garments should be hung on the wardrobe hangers and which ones should be folded.
It is normal to make mistakes when the stores themselves do not take care of this aspect. Clothing should not be hung on hangers under any circumstances.
You have to see how the sweaters are give of themselves on the shoulders, and the point is open.
There is no need to torture clothing in this way. If you have lovely knitwear and you are afraid that it will drain into the drawers and be burie by the rest, you can fold it with a sheet of paper.
3. Learn to tend
What happens after the washing machine is just as important as what happens inside. It is crucial to prioritize the use of the clothesline over the dryer.
Heat damages clothes a lot, and the dryer is the nemesis of less resistant garments.
When drying, it is convenient to look for the folds of the clothing to place the clips: armpits on shirts and groin on pants.
Another bad practice is to hang clothes in the morning, arguing that “it’s sunny” because direct sunlight is the worst thing that can affect color, especially in dark clothes. Direct sunlight causes items to stiffen and discolor.
It is much better to hang out in the morning and take off your clothes when the sun hits directly, or even wait until an hour in the afternoon when the sun is already retiring. The shirts should be dried on their hanger so that they do not deform.
4. The silk trick
Silk is one of the most beautiful fabrics that exist and, despite its appearance, it is one of the most resistant.
To wash a piece of silk that has been used but is not dirty, there is a very effective trick that leaves it as new: clean it with steam. It doesn’t sound effortless, but it is the opposite.
It consists of placing the garment on its hanger, and when you shower, hang it inside the bathroom.
The water vapor that comes off in the shower, which turns the mirror into a blackboard, is responsible for cleaning the garment. And it is ready for new use.
5. Leather
Caring for leather is an art. You can learn a lot in the biker forums, which are a group that knows a lot about this matter.
When winter ends, it is essential to store the garment in a garment bag, but avoid folding it, as you could cause it to deform.
It goes without saying that leather should not be put in the washing machine but should always be cleaned dry, with a product for this purpose and a dry sponge.
When saving for your spring equinox wardrobe change, a good habit is to slather on moisturizer. It sounds crazy, but leather is skin, and like yours, it appreciates hydration.

6. Hand wash
Always hand washes sweaters and delicates. Ideally, wait until you have several to avoid wasting water, and use cold water to prevent fading or shrinking.
We recommend washing the garments in a specific order: from the lightest to the darkest, with the idea of making better use of the water and that the dark garments do not contaminate other lighter ones with their dye.
To do it well, you should use a special detergent for delicate garments (and without overdoing the amount – read the measurements recommended by the manufacturer on the bottle -), pour it into the water, and mix it with it before introducing the garment.
Once washed, you have to drain the garment well, do not mix them all in the same bucket while they are wet, and let them dry in an airy place, on a hanger, or in such a way as to prevent them from deforming.
7. Products
The products we decide to buy to clean our clothes are critical to our daily health and hygiene, and they also impact the environment.
Conventional products may contain human-made chemicals that damage the garment or leave toxins in the fabric or water.
Something that does not happen with natural ingredients. Many “whitening” products include an “optical brightener,” a chemical that reflects light and makes the fabric appear whiter but has nothing to do with removing dirt. Furthermore, these products are not biodegradable.
Knowing will not hurt you, so we recommend that you explore the product ranges of organic brands that use natural ingredients. Highly recommended for people with susceptible skin.
